CPU32 BDM interface board V1.0 README file July 3, 1999 This CPU32 BDM interface board is a Background Debugger Mode board for CPU32 and CPU16 based Motorola processors. Included in a parts kit are all of the items required to get a board completely assembled, including the cable that connects to the printer port. This disk includes all of the files required to print and/or modify the board. (see copyright below) Included in this diskette are the following files: \README.TXT This file \bdm1.sch The schematic in Eagle format \bdm1.brd The board in Eagle format (to get a copy of Eagle Light, go to www.cadsoft.de) Postscript format files ps\bdm1.top.ps Top side ps\bdm1.bot.ps Bottom side ps\bdm1.silk.ps Silkscreen ps\bdm1.drill.ps Drill marker file ps\bdm1.tstop.ps Top side solder mask ps\bdm1.bstop.ps Bottom side solder mask ps\schematic.ps Schematic file Gerber format files board\bdm1.whl Wheel (aperture) file board\bdm1.cmp Component (top) side board\bdm1.sol Solder (bottom) side board\bdm1.plc Silk screen board\bdm1.stc Top side solder mask board\bdm1.sts Bottom side solder mask board\bdm1.gpi Information file Excellon format files board\bdm1.drl Tool rack file board\dbm1.drd Excellon output file board\bdm1.dri Drill information file Warranty There is no warranty on this board. I have tested it as best as I can with my limited knowlege of the BDM interface. I hope that you find it useful. However, I assume no obligation to make bug fixes or provide support in any way. I will be happy to answer questions as time permits. Copyright This board is Copyright by Charles A. Tilbury 1999. You may make these boards as often as you like by any means that you like. If you want to sell these boards, that is OK, too. You must, however, leave the copyright notice intact. If you have an application in which the copyright notice is inconvienent, then contact me. I am sure that we can easily work something out. Errata and Caviats There are no known problems with the BDM design or the board. If you find a problem please let me know. (see below for contact information) 1. It is nessesary to remove one of the pins on the resistor network labeled RN1 on the schematic. Cut pin 10 off. Make sure that you DO NOT cut pin 1 off like I did on the first one! Pin 1 is marked by a dark band on one end of the package. 2. The "pin 1" label on the connectors did not come out on the board, it is hidden under the silk screen. Turn the board so that the small connector is facing you. Pin 1 will be on the left on both connectors. 3. When installing the LEDs the flat side faces the small connector. 4. Be sure to locate the 1uF unpolarized cap. It looks just like the .1uF caps except that it is marked 105 instead of 104. 5. The SUBD-25 pin connector connects to the 26 conductor cable. You must cut the 26th conductor on the cable. The other end connects as usual. 6. Put the connectors on the pin headers to keep them from melting when you solder them. They are sort of cheap. I am very excited about this project and I want to make sure that I did a good job. If I did not, then I want to know about it so I can do better next time. Thank you for participating in this group buy. Good Luck. Contact Information: Charles Tilbury 13810 Dorywood Houston, TX 77038 catilbury@yahoo.com
