I don't know vettes, but I do know F-Bodies. The +12volt
power pin was added with the OBD-II connector. 94-95
F-bodies do not supply power through the DLC port. 96 and up
do provide power. The connector is totally different. I
assume you had to change cables going from the 89 to a 96.
