Grumpy,
MAF to MAP-- what parameters change on the chip--lets say
anything V8 in a 1227727 1987-1990 PCM.
Jus to be picky, it's ecm. Anyway
some chips have both the calculations in them, and they run all the time, just
a matter
of what input is used, "I
think". There are hundreds of chips that fall into this 87-90 727
arena, so I wouldn't begin to make a blanket statement about what has how
when. Using a MPSI scanner, I have seen a bin that would display
grams/sec, and K/Pa, at the same time.
There were TSB's back in some of the earlier V6 apps,
like a 2.8 VIN "W" that went from MAF to speed density to correct
driveability...I'm just curious what was changed on the PROM and if they used
the existing wiring to adapt a MAP sensor. Never did any of these
yet...
I've been told it was a chip, and
sensor change, but I also, never have done one.
My other question was whether someone has done a diff
ratio/engine/trans (RPO stuff) vs. Memcals or PROM's cross
reference...wouldn't this be kinda interesting ?
Your local GM dealer has a CD with all that on it. I
can do some of it ie Engine, emission, tranny, RPO stuff, but it's time
consuming.
That's why I was asking what you have a
guestion on.

Hey, CSH--is the archive zip a complete
info pack from the past years, or is it
just a digest version of the last year
?
Goes back to day one.
I've just started going through
it--it's a 7+
Meg file, so there's a lot of
reading...
Funnier still is,
when in two weeks they start adding stuff that you missed the first
time. I've been thru them dozens of times start to finish, and every
time I grasp something new, it sheds light on something, else, and so
on+so on.
still trying to find some concrete info on
MAF to MAP...
What specificlly do
you mean?.
found the VATS byte and transmission
byte (thanks ECMnut !!). Does anyone also have a RPO to Memcal cross
?? That'd be a real treat...
What is your question?. Give me a BCC and I'll try
to match it up.
