Tools that work

Well, the long term result of the Radio Shack Proscope, is that for the
average non EE, forget it, It may have been something I did, but now it's
inop.. So after waiting 3 months for it and 3 weeks use, that's a loser,
IMHO.
Steve R mentioned a Radio Shack Meter for about $50, well I got one, and
I'm also pleased with it.
On the scope front I got a Velleman, Handheld unit from MCM, for $199.
While more then the Proscope, this seems to be alot more user friendly, and
it would be good for in the garage work 110 adapter was a $10 option.
Uses 5 AA batteries. On other neat thing is that it has an auto set-up so
it's plug+play for the dumbies like me that don't grasp things well. In
the shipping box, was a new catalog, and it mentioned a new hand held
o-scope from TPI (for $299).
Velleman also has a PC to scope deal for $379, just wish it wasn't so
much..
MCM also, has a $20-30, automotive DVM that didn't look too bad, for a
garage use cheapy.
  MCM's Ph No. (800) 543-4330
I'm not affiliated with any firms mentioned, just passing along what works
for me.
