Re: dumb & dumber



4L80E has 2 solenoids (a + b) :) to control gear selection, a
combination of switches to let the pcm know what gear is selected, and
2 solenoids to engage the tcc(IIRC).  The transmission defaults to
second gear operation, with both solenoids off.  To put the trans
through gears 1-4, the a + b solenoids are powered on and off in
different combinations.  The only mechanical valve body holdovers that
I can think of are a couple of accumulators to cushion the shifts.  If
enough people are curious, I'll dig out my trans books in the next
couple of days.
