Re: Cam tuning

   Bruce,

I definitly agree with you on this one. There is no way a "tunner" could
get my 92LT1 right (Speed/Density) on the dyno. This was after he burned 10
Eproms.

He tried to tell me there was something else wrong with the engine (all
new 383). As soon as I hooked up with the group and got Tunner Cat I have
been able to get a great program in the ECM. I am running the engine blown
(Vortech Supercharger) with 42# injectors (no FMU)

                                      Jim

Send the car over and a couple grand, and I'll get it right for you. Might
take a long time, since I'm fussy about drivibility (gas, to be billed
monthly).
Head over to the FTP, and snag a copy of tuning.doc, or tuning.txt. Also,
some info at www.tunercat.com tunercat's version, is a better read.
Early on I tried saving money, and having someone do it, and just wasted
over $300 for crap (for a custom chip), and then spent several hundred on
other chips (ADS, Hypertech, Jet), and NONE were close to my final level of
drivibility, or performance. With the 5-600 I wasted, no to mention the
time and gas, I could have had a burner editor, and saved over a years time.
Sure ask me why I did programming 101.
Grumpy
Often the tuners draw the limit at 214d @ .050 (least when I was in my
money wasting days)...

> What's the best way to tune for a new cam? I'm trying to decide whether
to spend the money for a PROM burner or just pay someone to do it. I'm
putting a relatively mild cam into my LT1 in a few weeks (210/224, .518/.552
lift @1.6, 112 LS). I have an AFPR to add fuel across the whole board, and
the O2's should take care of part throttle fuel trim, but what should I look
at changing in the PROM tables? Idle, fuel, spark advance? Car in question
is listed below..
