Re: basic chevy tbi question

Dear Group:

Most of the stuff is way over my head, but I'm getting the 4 layer board
anyway to start learning for my pet project. In the meantime, I would
appreciate any help on the following:

I have a tired stock (tbi) 1990 350 chevy 4x4 automatic. I have a fresh 400
sbc shortbock I would like to put in. I would like to keep it simple (keep
the tbi and stock computer). I am looking for torque, probably won't push it
past 5000 rpm ever.

Can someone help me with the following:

How much flow can I get out of the stock throttle body, how hard is it to
have the bores bored out, and what about putting "454" injectors in?

Will I need a custom chip?

Can I get enough flow to make it worthwhile to put the vortec heads on
instead of rebuilding the stock heads?

Any cam recommendations?

Thanks for any help you can give me. SS
