Re: Sensitivity of GM Knock Sensors

Jim, I have 11point 1 to One with alum heads, L98 and I am only running 25
deg at WOT, with not PE spark adder. (Make sure that sucker is zeroed out)
and I am finally getting no detonation, you may want to go even less timing
wise. I would just keep going until there is no detonation (For research
purposes) You may also need water injection or an intercooler too. OR you
may want to add some additional fuel to quench it a bit. I have slight
detonation on shifts. I don't know of any way to eliminate this. I tune by
loading the engine in 4th gear at about 600 rpm's and going to WOT and using
the brake to hold the engine at 500 rpm increments, pretty much all the way
to redline, while recording with diacom. I have tuned for virtually no
detonation. If it detonates a hair on shifts, oh well. I read an article
that said that the ecm pulling out about 3 deg seems to run better. I
haven't instrumented anything to see if that's correct or not. Maybe now
that I have almost zero detonation I should start checking rwhp and add some
timing and check again. All it takes is a lot more time that I don't have!
