Re: another Memcal ?

Won't work, Todd. ESC on the chip is specific to bore size, and the CALPACK
(not MEMCAL) also has cylinder select, which will set a code for cyl select
if you replace the prom in the calpack with a V8 unit.
You can get the right one new from GM for $45 or so from Dal Slabaugh.
Shannen and Ludis are regulars that have this info about the BCC that you
seek...

Subject: another Memcal ?

> I have a Memcal from a 91 3.1L PFI v6. If the prom is reprogrammed to the
V8 specs I want, does anyone know if the ESC on this chip will work as long
as I use the Knock sensor from the V8? I know the Knock sensors are vehicle
and Engine Specific but are the modules? I was told by one individual the
ESC was the reason I couldn't use the v6 one because it supposedly didn't
have the ESC on the chip but the v8 did this was backed up with pictures of
the chips, but for some reason my chip has the ESC on it.

EPROM that the GMECM sight don't have or is it somewhere on the sight that I
haven't found? IE I want to find out what the AUWX, I think was what was on
the chip, is for. I found out that it was for a 91 3.1 PFI V6 but I had the
vehicles Vin.
