In the fall of 2003, General Motors will introduce the latest advance in
Ignition technology --- the Integrated Coil and Spark Plug.  Besides sharing
the real estate advantages of Pencil Coil Ignition, the new
coil-and-spark-plug design is part of a more sophisticated, closed loop
firing system controlled by the engine contol module (ECM).

This new, smarter technology, (Ion Sensing), designed for the next
generation of high-tech engines, will provide better ways of sensing what is
occuring inside the combustion chamber.  It will allow engineers more
precise control over spark timing, burn rates, knock sensing, and combustion
efficiency than pencil-coil and coil-per-cylinder technologies.   ect...
