What's the manufacturer's spec for the brand of EPROMs you received?  If
you don't know, then assume the worst and use several pulses.  The
problem is that you may have only partially programmed each bit.  At 5.0
volts and room temperature, they work fine.  At temperature and voltage
extremes they might not.
