I don't know if this is relevant or of any use, but i have a holden VSS that i have connected directly to the holden dash, and it appears to have read correctly for the holden diff/wheel ratio... tho it's somewhat out for my mini... need to build a small reductoin gear box, as i can't see any other way of modifying the signal on the unit itself... Also make sure that the VSS is spinning the right direction, for some reason, because mine is spinning backwards, the odometer only reads in reverse, buggers me how the sensor can tell this tho...

Mike,
The VSS output is not scaled for a speedometer. The Speedometer output
on the LT1 PCM is set for 4004 pulses per mile! what does the Speedo
want? I rescaled one PCM for 8000 pulses per mile, because the Jag
speedo wants that.
