Because I am learning something!  I just found out that the stock prom
likely has too radical of initial timing (or is that timing advance?)
and that it can likely be improved upon.  Of course most of you probably
already knew that, but I haven't seen any real data from a Quad4 so
everything is new.  Your expert advise can save me a lot of time and I
can perhaps correct the problems with mechanical fixes until I learn to
program.

Yes but even using mechanical answers can be an improvement.  If I don't
have to hack my own chip and can fix it with easy solutions (to me they
are easier).  If I needed to add more fuel, then a little more FP would
have been easier than hacking the the chip for me too.  Or my stock FP
and filter could have been dirty or worn out from 110K miles...

I still want to learn to program, but I can possibly get more right now
from fixing the problems as they currently exist?

Either way I really appreciate the help and patience!  I've learned
quite a bit already.
