You have to have a solid base to work on.  First and formost.
Fuel Pump over 40K old, is junk in my book for hypo use.
Plugs should be new, and of the oem recommendation intially
Fuel filter over 10K old is junk
Plug wires (cap rotor, and high voltage stuff) when used, should be new.
Compresion test, and leak down.
A shop manual, not some $19 POS either.
Wiring diagrams, as many engine specs, sensor specs as possible.
Then base line test it, and resolve any problems.
Then think about tuning.
Use as many GM AC/Delco parts as possible.  Meaning sell the Bosch sensor to
someone.
For someone new to the game, start at square one.
