I think it is becaue of the diff between motors.. Some diff.. the 4.3 have 2 hegos the 305 and 350 have 1... some seem to have hegos and some don't from the same year and motor..... May have to with 4x4... have a guy here at work who put a 350 in a 4.3 fs (95).. we used the chip from the 95 fschev and it worked.. even though they have diff ecm's...some of the pins between ecms were different though..
