MAP vs MAF FAQ

Since no one else's taken the insentive, guess I will. But rather then
spend a 100 hours and then have folks pick at it, it a group project...
Here's they way I see it.
I'm going to post reference to a specific topic, and invite comment, I'll
then edit it as folks respond, but your going to have to be adults about it,
and if your contribution is deleted, it was my desicion, put any hurt
feelings away, and just go with it. Yep, we're doing my postings my way you
want to do some, fine then you get to do them your way.
Remember this is just a FAQ, short precise information is what's needed,
not long opinated justifications.

MAF vs MAP
which is better?.

Well, alot of that is personal opinion. What can be said are the advantages
and disadvantages of both systems

MAF advantages
Can be easier to work with.
May have a slight MPG edge
More forgiving to minor engine changes
Full time barometic compensation

MAF disadvantages
Can sometimes exceed the air flow measuring of the MAF sensor.
The actual restriction of the metering unit
Plumbing for the sensor
Trying for a turbulent free intake tract.
Lag time for the hot wire / foil sensor to stabilise.
Has to be slightly rich in transistions
Sensor price

MAP advantages
Sensor cost
easy to learn
Ease of plumbing
Enrichments can to some degree be tied to actual engine demand.

MAP disadvantages
No full time baro compensation
