Re: Trials and tribulations

Far as I know it's all Packard Bell wire (least that's what they said in gm
courses). I've taken numerous EFI harnesses apart (TBI + TPI). On a few of
the TBIs the injector wiring seems to be tougher then the stuff in the
harness with it. With age even gets worse, meaning brittle. Had an 85
Buick turbo that the injector harness was really, really heavy duty in the
tough insulation department. I think gm just sets a min, and if they run
out of that, then they get some of this tough stuff. Oh, back to the 85,
and then I've taken one apart where it just appeared to be the normal
harness stuff. The GM pickups seem to be the most common use of the tough
injector wiring. If the whole harness end was brittle I'd say heat, but
when it's just the injectors, I say for some reason it's a toughter wire.
Also, at Mendelson's from time to time the have a oil proof wire for
sale, that appears to be the injector tough stuff, I think it's just label
oil / heat resistant. If it would help I might be able to round up samples
of both.
