Re: MAF BLM based tuning

Bruce ,
With that being the case why would I want to trash the MAF in favor of
MAP for my future forced induction application?

For ease of execution and resolution of calibration, yes.
You *might* get by using a late 3.5 MAF, but it would be alot of work.
MAFs, Hate Oil, so it would have to be upstream of the S/C. I haven't seen
any hacs for the new stuff floating around, so it would mean adapting the
MAF. No ones tried just resetting the maf frequency numbers in a 165 and
tried that, so that is one possible answer, but:

Or just runs Johns 2bar 730 patched code, run a vacuum line to the MAP, and
be done with it. AND there is that full time baro option.

Plan B sure sounds easier to me.

I know that upgrading from a '870 to a '165 would increase my serial data
rate but what would I
gain from a '730?

Drive ablity, tuning is easier..i found droped me over .5 sec in ¼ compared
to stock maf

Couldn't the MAF data be recalibrated with a prom to measure greater airflow
than it was intended to measure stock?

Then you loose resolution and hencedriveablity

I'm hoping for 500-550hp and would like use the MAF computer in the short
term.

Been through all this when I was a newbie too.....the 730 seems to
be a newer ecm.. got more tables and options to play with, like lean cruise
mode, better tcc control(not that it matters to you)
Easy to patch stuff from other 730 apps, close relative to 749.. I
think, so is possible to controll boost, ect ect..
Trust me.. much easier to tune....better throttle response, and mpg
in town and in hills... higway was same as 165.,
