Re: Engine swap computer & wiring question (& 3800SC)

Yeah, that is kind of what I was hoping to do... keep most of the 3400
components and use mostly the 3.1 wiring, just splicing in the 3400 engine
wiring where necessary.

You say that a lot of Fiero owners have done the upgrade to 3400. Do you
know of any in particular (with email) who would be willing to talk to me a
little about this? In particular, I am most interested in cars with mostly
3400 components. I would like to keep the 3400 heads because they have
rollers, and if I keep the heads I would need to keep the intake as well.
Were the Fiero owners doing their re-calibrating, or buying the chips from
someone. I don't have the equipment or know-how to program a chip myself...

Another idea for this swap... instead of using the 3400, I am again thinking
of the 3800 supercharged, like I originally was. My planning turned from
the 3800 to the 3400 because of figuring out how to physically mount the
engine. I'm considering the 3800 again because of ease of wiring. Anyone
know if the early '92 or '93 Bonneviles with the SC 3.8 were OBDII? If so,
would that run a late 90's or perhaps a 2000-'01 engine? Do these computers
care what transmission is used? I will keep my 3T40 most likely. The newer
3800's (GenII) had a considerable amount more HP than the older ones.

As you can see... I'm in the very early planning stages here. Since I just
recently bought a '98 Intrepid to repair and sell within the next month and
a half, the swap might pushed off until next summer.
