I don't know if you stated this or not but, where are you located? Your
interest in this list is pretty close to mine. I have done and will do more
FI conversions into Land Cruisers. Are you subscribed to the Land Cruiser
mailing list?
For starters I would recommend reading Chevrolet TPI & TBI Engine Swapping
by JTR. www.JagsThatRun.com This book may be technically below others on
this list but it will give you an overview of the operating systems. It is
not a instruction book. You do not have to be able to burn you own proms to
do an engine conversion or even understand how to. You just need to know
what parts from the factory setup you need. Like I said I don't know where
you are but a friend of mine has the engine, harness and ECM out of a 89
Corvette. I think it is going for about $900. It may be easier to go with a
complete setup than try to piece one together. My personal preference is to
go with the factory wiring harness and the GM manuals from Helm. Yes, you
will have to mess with it, but at least you know you have what you need. I
have seen one guy mess with several of the aftermarket wiring harnesses. He
hasn't had much luck with any of them. If you have more specific questions
about doing this in a Cruiser let me know off list.
