89 YB vs FB Prom Problem with AC

Does anyone know if a 89 YB (Vet Prom) can be made to work in an 89 FB
(Camaro Firebird)
Both L98 Engines.  I have done a prom for a friend using my 89 Vet prom as a
start and have got it
running rather well, EXCEPT that when he turns on his AC the engine almost
dies and the
Check Engine light comes on and it stutters and sputters until the AC is
turned off.
I went throught the "Air Fuel Mode Words" that are at C014, C015, C016 and
C017 and Switched
the C017, Byte 5, Normally open fan request input from a 1 to a Zero, but
this hasn't fixed it.
I am stumped, Anyone know?
