Re: Compiler?

www.mot.com

'pink books' they will send you for free and you can order online.
programming guides, sample code, lots of stuff online. mailing lists and
newsgroups w/ motorola employees moderating. evaluation kits for cheap. I
have an HC-08 eval kit for $99 thats the best for the money for starting
out. Its called ICS05C. It is a "not realtime" eval board with
microprocessor burning capability for 2 types of packages. the ZIFS onboard
alone are worth $99. cables, software (great package, debugging etc) I
looked around for a while for something to learn on, there is an HC-11
version but for learning this package was better for me (cheaper
processors). the software for it is online too so you can preview things.
Its all a bit overwhelming to look at all at once is my only advice... stick
with it it really is a fun challenge. wish I stuck with it but I have to
show up at work sometime ;-)

2 things I did (after some help) were to use an hc-08 processor to read the
GN datastream, and used an assembler to recompile my turbo-grand prix (727)
code to allow me to select between 2 spark tables using the TPS at key-on
time (simple JSR right after the checksum). the code changing stuff is
challenging especially if you have no other logic or basic electronics
knowlege.
