I have two dataraser's, one with the timer, one without.  I made a little
metal
clip out of wire, that fits in a compartment under the sliding cover when
not
in use that allows me to defeat the cover switch it I need to erase a prom
in the memcal.
I have the Needham's emp10 serial port programmer.  It works great.

I also built an adapter from the memcal socket in an old ecm that allows
me to snap a memcal in and plug the adapter into the emp10 for reading
and programming.
