You might try making a buffer out of an op-amp.  Seems like your
camcorder might be loading the tach signal.  Or, Radio Shack sells a
little amplifier that runs off a 9 volt battery.  It has an input and an
output, you might try putting it between the tach signal and the
camcorder input.
