Re: Way OT, now cam Q ( was EGR Q's (was: Fuel Econ and Hiway Mode))

The LS1 Corvette engine does not use EGR either. The exhaust lobe closes early to create an EGR effect. This also results in a lobe seperation of 116 degrees. The C/F LS1 has a different cam and it uses EGR.

LT4 "Hot" cam = rumpity rump.

Sideline question:
LT4 cam does not have much valve overlap. -1 degree measured at
.050". What causes the "rumpity" idle on a small overlap cam?

Exhaust dilution... Lean mixture
lobe separation plays a big part even without a large overlap.
