This is what I used to do using the Pocket Programmer software for my 7148
eproms - edit the bin and set the first two bytes to zero, exit the editor
so it calculates the checksum, then re-edit and put the checksum in the
first two bytes.  This is on a C3 ecm.

I think promedit calculates the checksum and the new version of WinBin
(0.12) does it for sure.  In the first table in the .ecu file you specify
where the checksum goes and the start and stop addresses for the
calculation.  Then, click on the "calc checksum" button to calculate it,
and then on the "save checksum" button if you want it stored.  Hm, you
could even write a .ecu file that only did the checksum if you were so
inclined :-).
