   Many reasons from auto makers point , One is Power Distribution , Hi 
Brite LCD, Active Suspensions , more air bags , more modules , more creature
   conveniences , rear seat LCDs , Web ready vehicles , and the list goes 
on. Simply , not enough power remains in 13.8 Volt sys to supply the future
   Damands. Then there's "Telemetry" and "Telemetrics" and proposed ITS 
standards, along side  OBD2.  What ever happened to  "Basic Transportation " ?
   Wards Auto Reports , EE times and Design News are mentions of Info on a 
on going basis , to name a few. Companys such as Johnson Controls
   are likely involved in the 42V designs and smart battery ICs. Mirror 
Heads Up Tire Inflation Display from these folks for some 2002 Production.

   Detroit and Other Car Makers always need to be different .
