VPW to USB interface: This is an interface which should reduce VPW OBD2 communications to USB/virtual com port PC-side commands. The firmware needs to be developed obviously, but the basis is here. Revised 12/25/06 (yes, Christmas!) - Deleted majority of 1206 components in favor of space-saving 0402 bits - Finished layout, all connections now complete - Labeled all components on both silkscreen (documentation) layer and in schematic - Assigned values to majority of components - Allowed spacing around 68HC58 which should allow socketing This interface uses the following: - FTDI FT232RL - Motorola M68HC58 - Atmega8 with 10-bit A/D channels and crystal-driven USART up to 921.6k - Standardized DB9 OBD2 side cable connector - Pactec CNS-0407 enclosure - Beefy USB connector - 2-layer PCB layout - Good noise reduction - 3-channel A/D converter interface via Weidmuller 1615430000 4-pin terminal block - ISP programming via edge card connector This should be fun. Enjoy! -Craig
