Yes and maybe no.

The workshop service manual shows one pair of wires connected between +12V 
(power) and 0V (ground), when the ignition is on. I'm guessing this is some 
kind of heater. The other pair of wires (from the sensor ?) go directly to 
the ECU, connecting on pins J1-A21 and J1-A16 for the front 02 sensor, and 
J3-C20 and J3-C15 for the rear sensor.

It could be that that some of these pins are grounded out in the ECU, but I 
don't know that to be true. It is just as possible for the receiver circuit 
inside the ECU to be a differential/balanced one in order to eliminate 
noise picked up on the wiring harness. If so then neither end of either 
sensor is/needs to be grounded.

But are you saying that basically any "one type fits all" 4 wire Lambda 
sensor from a major manufacturer (Lucas, Bosch,Delphi) will work ?
