Re: 730 ECM Swap

The conversion harnesses are nice. Here is another
idea I did for the 7730 conversion. I have no extra
wires going thru my firewall.
for the knock sensor..I unplugged my plug at teh ESC
and installed a jumper from pin C to pin E. this gives
a direct route to the knock sensor from the ecm.

For the new map ecm sig. I used a Dan white harness.
basically it jump in between the TPS sensor. It grabs
5v and 5v return for the map. Then for the main map
sig I ran mine thru the center pin from the MAF(green)
plug. this will give the ecm the map sig.
The only other problem I encountered at first was
scanner link. The 7730 needs a pin E. my 85(870) ecm
only had one at pin m. I just intaled a jumper there
as well.
My last stumble was the speedo for the ecm. My dash
worked fine but the ecm did not have any speed input.
I has a manual tranny so it was not importtant for me
but wanted a 100% working ecm. Mine vss went directly
to the dash . the dash did a conversion from the ppm
to a 0-5 v reading. this may not be exact but was not
a ppm. I had to tap right off the purple and yellow
VSS wires right them to the ECM and the scan data MPH
worked fine.
The plugs for the map harness can be bought at any
pepboys or autozone. I can get a digital pic if
somone wants to see it.
