GM often used 27C256's where a 27C128 ought to have been. These '256's
invariably have funny markings. They might have been chips with a bad
bit in the unused (lower) half. Alternately, the '128 size isn't/wasn't
as common as the '256. GM may have had trouble getting '128's which can
handle a wiggling ~PGM pin (it's connected to the MPU's A14 in the '165
ECM.)
