steve, let me know if you do anything with it.  i am actively working 
on this daily, my goal being a complete (or as near as complete as 
possible) reverse-engineer of the code with full commenting. so far 
i've figured out +/- 200 lines (a small start, but a start).

I will probably set up a web page shortly with the current work both 
for myself and anyone else who's interested.

i'll let you know that address in the next day or four when it's online 
so you can make use /add to anything i've done as well.
