RE: TPI fuel pressure

Gauge was VERY steady on the 305 IROC, very erratic on my car. Same gauge.
So unless the gauage behavior varies from connection to connection, I doubt
it's the gauge. Clearly more testing is needed. Been wanting to do the
in-car test with gauge on windshield but my hose is short enough really only
the passenger can see. Will do that tomorrow on the way to work. My
carpool partner needs something to do!

The inline filter really is new! Replaced it not that long ago. Can't
imagine it being the cause.

Steve (lookin for a few good little guys!)

There is a filter on the pump but it is probably ok. I just swapped my fuel
pump and mine was 14 years old and just rather dirty. The problem is
probably the inline filter which you unscrew not cut :-) They can cause
problems like what your having. The erratic needle movements is somtimes
the gauge. I think someone mentioned using a isolator before. Pressure
(for 350) should be around 40 with vacuum and about 8 psi more with no
vacuum. If you have ever looked at a MAP log you would see blipping the
throttle cause the vacuum to change but then go back to almost what it was
at idle thus confusing your readings. Take the gauge and tape it to the
window. Check pressure then unhook vacuum. Should go up then hook up
vacuum and go for a WOT run. Pressure show go to same as with unhooked
vacuum at idle. If not check the filter and then pump.

Hope that helps,
DanT
