Well, since I know virtually nothing about SBC other than the LT1/LT4, I
will take your word on it.  I had noticed on that page the comment: "Use
chrome cover P/N 12342089 or early model sheet metal cover P/N 12523317
for short water pump application."  This led me to believe that they
were interchangeable.
